Mary and her 5 sisters grew up on a farm near San Antonio with their parents, Maria and Jesus. After the passing of her father, the family moved to Fort Worth. It was here that she met and married her husband Frank Leza. This was the beginning of a long and beautiful life with her daughters & four grandchildren. Her husband passed away in 1996 and Mary worked for Koslow’s Furs until her retirement in 1992. She spent her remaining years living with each of her three daughters & enjoying the company & love of her family, including her surviving sisters Dolores Araujo and Elida Martinez & their children & grandchildren, to whom she was “Aunt Mary”.
Growing up on the farm instilled in her a life-long love of gardening. She enjoyed growing vegetables but she especially loved flowers! Clematis was her favorite! She could see the miracle of life in each of her plants. She was also an expert seamstress and taught her daughters to sew by hand and machine. Mary and her daughters shared so many beautiful moments that will forever warm their hearts!
She has always been known lovingly as, “Momma” and “Nanny” to her 3 daughters, Melinda Robertson, Elizabeth Leza and Cathy Leza-Castillo and her 4 grandchildren, Jon-Eirik & Jakob Robertson, Mia Shannonhouse & Aidan Castillo.
Mary’s family will be forever grateful and blessed to have had the joy and love of such a sweet, devoted mother.
‘Dearest Mother we will feel your love in the warmth of the Sun and see you in the glow of the Moon.’
