Lee and I knew each other as children growing up in Detroit because our families were friends. We became close friends after both our families moved to Los Angeles and we started college in 1948, Lee at UCLA and me at Loyola. Lee’s open mindedness strongly influenced me to a more free-thinking life view. For the next four years we went on adventurous motorcycle trips and camp outs as well as a trip deep into Mexico. After college we went our separate ways and started families but always kept in touch. After our children were adults, we resumed our adventures together including trips to Switzerland, Spain, Chile, and several to Mexico. We also backpacked in the High Sierra of California. I visited Lee in Fort Worth several times and we enjoyed attending the annual Cliburn concerts. I will always cherish memories of our times together.
