Obituary of Ryan Cheyney Lynch

Ryan Cheyney Lynch, loving husband, devoted son, brother, and cherished friend, passed away in Dallas on April 6, 2020. He was 46 years old. Ryan was raised in both Richardson and Plano, Texas, and attended the St. Mark’s School of Texas, before graduating from Plano Senior High School in 1993. After high school, Ryan attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in History. While in Austin, Ryan made many lifelong friends who will remember him fondly. He was a much-loved member of the Kappa Alpha Order, Omicron Chapter, and an active musician in the vibrant Austin music scene. Ryan also earned a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas and Master of Business Administration from the University of North Texas. After graduation, he worked as a trader and analyst in the financial-services industry at Chase, Fidelity, Nobilis Group, and most recently as a Capital Resource Manager at Verizon. Throughout his life, Ryan had a passion for dove hunting, fishing, laughing with friends, cheering on the Longhorns and Cowboys, and sharing in good times with all. However, out of all his passions, his passion for music was perhaps his strongest. Ryan was drawn to music at an early age and taught himself to play the bass guitar and was skilled at an array of other instruments. He began playing at music venues in Dallas while still in high school and, over the next decade and a half, honed his craft as part of the Texas music scene. Ryan was a member of the Cory Morrow, Owen Temple and Phil Pritchett bands whom he toured and recorded with over the years. Out of those, he was best known professionally for writing, recording, and performing with the Cory Morrow Band. He was a gifted musician, performer, and songwriter, with an exceptional ear and work ethic to match. In addition, he had a way with audiences and those who knew him on the road will remember his unique ability to connect and bring a smile to your face. While his passion for music was undoubtedly strong, that passion met its match, ironically at a Dallas concert in June of 2012, when Ryan met the love of his life, Paige Southern. They were perfect together and soon fell in love. Ryan and Paige married at Houmas House in Darrow, Louisiana, on October 18th, 2014. They shared a love for life, their friends, and were always the center of any dinner, party, and every home Longhorn game. They were active members of Lakewood Country Club, where Ryan played golf. In addition, they shared a love of travel and after their first trip as a couple to California, they traveled often, including to many far-off exotic locations including Dubai, France and Italy. As a couple, they were devoted to each other and amazing friends to those around them. Ryan is survived by his wife, Paige Southern, who he loved deeply; his mother, Margaret Lynch (Dallas, TX); sister, Kristyn Lynch (Austin, TX); in-laws Rosemary, Scott, Ryan, and Amy Southern (Dallas, TX); nephew, Hudson; and niece, Sawyer whom he adored; an abundance of aunts, uncles, cousins, and more close friends than anyone can count. He was pre-deceased by his father, Stephen Lynch who passed in 2015, and they are now reunited in heaven. His infectious smile and laugh have greatly impacted everyone he met. He will be missed by all. He is also survived by his aunt, Ms. Susan Johnson (Arlington, MA); aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. C.B. Patten (Amory, MS); aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Howard N. Scales III (Geronimo, TX); and aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Russell Elley (Seguin, TX); cousins, Rebecca Johnson, Mr. & Mrs. Ben Ames, Isabelle, Teddy, Will Johnson, Mr. & Mrs. Gary Walden, Mrs. Lezlie Simpson, Joshua, Sara, Mr. Chris Walden, Mr. & Mrs. Brinner, Avery, Mr. & Mrs. Howard Noah Scales IV, Mr. & Mrs. Lee Backus, Cash, Ms. Victoria Elley, and Ms. Danielle Elley. Ryan is preceded in death by his grandparents, Lt. Col.& Mrs. H.N. Scales (San Antonio, TX), Ms. Maggie Binion Scales (Columbus, MS), and Mr. & Mrs. John P. Lynch (Marblehead, MA).
