James Douglas Cheek, AKA; Jimmy or Chico, passed away at his home in Granbury, Texas on April 21, 2020.
An informal gathering of family and friends will be held on May 23, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. located at 12800 Bella Colina Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76126. Interment will follow at a later date at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Jimmy was born on October 29th in Pampa, Texas to Nile Cheek and Elizabeth Cheek Rawls. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, worked as a rough neck and driller in the oil fields, became an iron worker, and established Chico’s Welding in Hobbs, NM and then moved it to Bakersfield, CA. He enjoyed the beach, traveling, working on computers, and taking photographs, but most of all he loved having his family around.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Denice Cheek of Granbury, his beloved pet Poochie, His daughters, Missy Heady and husband Jerry, Cheryl Price and husband Doyle, their mother, Claudine Cheek, Step sons, Dan Robertson and Denis Robertson and wife Cristine. Grandchildren, Jamey Jones, Jeria Corbitt, Jessica Pierre-Agusta, Danielle Shepic, Brooke Ballew, Clint Price, Aaron Robertson, Danae Robertson, Lexie Debenham, and Shelby Robertson. Great Grandchildren, Jordyn, Adison, Raelynn, Dylan, Slaid, Lincoln, and Ari and a host of extended family and friends.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents Nile Cheek and Elizabeth Rawls, sons James Cheek and Danny Cheek, and sister Dolores Bailey.
