Obituary of Etheldria Carey

Etheldria "Tootie" Carey, 60, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 12 at Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76133. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at New Harvest Missionary Baptist Church, 5205 Carol Ave. Fort Worth, TX 76105, Dr. Clyde Downs host pastor, officiating. Interment: Skyvue Memorial Gardens, Mansfield, Texas. "Tootie" as she was affectionally known, was born to the parentage of Josh Lee and Bettie Jean Mills-Lee, December 28, 1959 in Fort Worth, Texas. She professed love and a hope in Jesus Christ at a young age and was baptized at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Smith. She attended the public schools in Fort Worth and was a Class of 1978 graduate of the Trimble Tech High School. In 1980, she was one of two women amongst 84 ironwork apprentices in Fort Worth to enter a three year iron work program. In about 1974 she met the love of her life, Lloyd Byron Carey and they were united in Holy Matrimony. To this union two children were born, Byron and Lucreshia. Tootie was the first female construction worker in Fort Worth and was the center of attention in a writeup in the Fort Worth Star Telegram in 1980. She was a former Postal employee and an employee of General Motors in Arlington. She was proceeded in death by her mother. Left to cherish her precious memories are: Her son and daughter, Lloyd Byron Carey,Jr. and wife Krystal, and Lucreshia Carey-Powell and husband Kelsey; two sisters, Tamara Lee and Rosalind Richardson aunts, Katie Campbell; brothers, Freddie Martin, Keith Martin, Josh Lee Hulk, and Tremayne Lee; grandchildren, Kristopher Carey, Devondrick Carey, and Journee Chapple; and a vast number of cousins and other relatives and Dear friends.
