Obituary of Gerardo Leonel Rivera
Please share a memory of Gerardo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gerardo Leonel Rivera passed away at the young age of 41 on September 13, 2021 in Denton, Texas.
Gerardo was born on January 17, 1980 to Leonides Rivera and Doris Torres in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He was one of six children born to Leonides and Doris and their only son.
He attended school in Puerto Rico receiving many certifications. He moved to Texas and most recently worked as a CAD Drafter for a company that truly valued his ability and hard work.
Gerardo married his wife, Glorymar, in the Fall of 2001, and they had two wonderful children, Lerymar & Gerardo. They would have celebrated 20 years of marriage on September 29, 2001.
He was an adventurer, loved to hike, travel, and be spontaneous. He knew everything about planes and cars and he shared passion with anyone who would listen; he loyally cheered on his Philadelphia Eagles & was the king of dad jokes.
Above all else, Gerardo loved his family. Not only was he a great dad to his two children, he also took over the role of father to his nephews, Roberto “Tuti”, Alex, Adrian, Diego and niece Annie who lovingly referred to him as “Tio Pinty”. Gerardo also had a very special relationship with his nephews, Onixito, Jeremy, Yahir and Mia.
He was a loyal servant of God. He touched so many lives through Alpha ministry where he served with love and compasion. He truly was a special Human Being, loved by every one who got to know him.
In Leiu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Gerardo’s honor to the Church he loved so much, St. Ann Catholic Parish in Coppell, Texas.
There is no doubt that Gerardo was a man that everyone could count on, and thankfully all of his most endearing qualities have been passed on to his children, nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
