Natalia Zuniga Montemayor “Thalia”, 79, of Lubbock, Texas passed away on September 21, 2021. She was born on July 27, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas to Leoniseo and Carolina Zuniga.
Natalia grew up in Lubbock, Texas where she raised her family and cherished her friends and loved ones. She was a very artistic and creative person with many passions including painting, drawing, decorating, cooking, and traveling. She enjoyed bringing out the beauty of the world through her paintings and artistic creations, incorporating the newest decorating trends into her and others’ homes, and finding new and innovative recipes to cook and share with her family, friends, and loved ones. No stranger to travel, she visited 47 states, bringing back some inspiration for one of her artistic passions and was never afraid to learn or try new things or go somewhere historical, new, or interesting. However, her greatest passion in life was her faith and family. She would always try to find some way to preach God’s word by opening her home to family and friends for fellowship and praise. She was always hosting big Thanksgiving and Christmas events, and everyone was welcome whether she knew them or not. She was a very giving and loving person and will be greatly missed but the faith and love she passed down will continue through her family, friends, and loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leoniseo and Carolina; her first husband, Jessie Garcia; and late husband, Tony Montemayor; her daughter, Caroline Montemayor; and her sisters, Clara Rodriguez and Leona Palma.
She is survived by her daughter, Christina and her husband Gabriel Flores of Fort Worth, Texas; her son, Mark and his wife Irosema Montemayor of Lubbock, Texas; her son Freddy and his wife Martha Montemayor of Lubbock, Texas; and her son, Ananias Montemayor of Fort Worth, Texas; two nephews; three nieces; several great-nephews and nieces; and several grand-children and great-grandchildren.
