Monica was, and continues to be, an amazing example of positivity and joy for living. She embraced the idea that learning never ends and her curiosity was contagious. Monica did not just volunteer as a docent at the Houston Science Museum. She immersed herself in each topic, learning interesting facts to share, creating a costume to wear to help promote the exhibit.
One year, Monica re-wore her Titanic exhibit maid costume at my Mothers Day dress-up tea party. She was intrigued by the concept and asked if she could participate and share in the event. My grandchildren still mention my friend who came to the tea party and added to our fun.
I first met Monica and Mick at one of Shana's charades parties. Monica was very good with charades and word play and puns.I admired how she created speeches for Toastmasters, for the learning experience.
Monica hosted playful fun parties of her own, including her hen party with chicken jokes, crafting, gizmo/doohickey party.
Monica had a gift for being fully present in any moment, whether sharing heartfelt words, listening, or creating fun.
Monica was a wonderful friend. I grieve her having to struggle with ALS. I celebrate the bond she had with Mick and their ability to deal with the devastating life changes with tenacity and honesty. I mourn the loss of my friend.

As written in her obituary, "Monica was a bubbly, genuinely happy, and positive person". As neighbors, we were richly blessed by Monica's friendship. We admired her intelligence, her giving spirit, and her many and varied accomplishments. We will all miss her, but even in the midst of mourning, we are thankful that her physical struggles are now over and she is at peace.

Monica was so thoughtful. She and I organized and invited friends to a "spring cleaning" party. Everyone brought brooms to decorate. Several months later, after she had moved to the Ft. Worth area, she sent me a bracelet that had a small charm that looked like a broom. I was so touched by her thoughtfulness. She was a good friend to me and many, many others. I miss her.
