Obituary of Edna Mae Hayden

Edna Mae Hayden, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully on Saturday morning March 14, 2015, during her 91st year. She was born on January 14, 1924, in Muse, Oklahoma to James and Patie Morgan; one of eight brothers and sisters. Edna moved from the family farm at the age of 14 to Oklahoma City to help her oldest sister with their family business. At the age of 16, she moved to Fort Worth to work and raise a family. Edna worked at various jobs, including owning a family grocery store before finding her calling in the Insurance Industry. Although, a very successful business woman, at the age of 50, Edna returned to school in the evening to earn her high school diploma. After retiring, Edna enjoyed forging special and unique relationships with each of her grandchildren. She shared her delicious home cooking as well as her painting and other crafts. Edna took great pride in teaching herself to knit and crochet and many of her family and friends are recipients of these treasured items including a recipe book she put together for all to enjoy. Most of all, she relished spending time with her family. In 2011, as her health began to fail, she moved to her daughter, Linda's home. The last few years, Edna and Linda shared many special memories. The family wishes to extend special thanks to her caretaker, Trish Cook, who gave her wonderful care and friendship. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings and her daughter, Brenda. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Martin; sons, John Hayden and wife, Melinda, and Rob Hayden and wife Cathy; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
