Sharon was a very gentle, kind and caring friend. We met while traveling with our husbands while they worked. Sharon, Sondra and I had six kids between as and we picked things to do where we could all be involved.
We gathered up and went to the orchard to pick Bing cherries. We didn't have to feed our kids when we were going home.
The three of us decided to raise bees. Sharon sponsored the project at first. I ordered the parts and pieces for two hives. We assembled them and then ordered the bees through the mail. I took their door off near the hive and they moved right in. On the day we robbed the honey Sharon and Sondra set up in the kitchen. We had six very interested junior partners. I would bring a slat of honey to the house walking off the bees as I came. Bees can't make right angles. They would accept the salt, uncap the cells and put the slat in the extractor to sling out the honey. We had six very sticky kids and every surface was sticky. There were a few other problems but that's what is wonderful about memories you can edit. On our peak production year we had 13 gallons of honey.
