Obituary of Coletta Marie Maksimik
Coletta Marie Maksimik passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.
Born in Plymouth, Indiana to Donita and John Furin on July 9, 1953, Coletta became a graduate of St. Mary’s College at Notre Dame in 1975 and received her Master’s in Education from UCLA. She taught Fourth Grade at the Texas School of the Arts until 2014. She was a very active member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church as well as the Focolare Movement and the Lay Ministers Helpers. A patron of the Arts, she loved to travel and experience the world.
She is preceded in death by mother, Donita; father, John; and brother, Matt.
Coletta was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband John Maksimik; children Sasha, John and wife Hannah, children Jack, Mabel, and Elodie, and Daniel; siblings John Furin and wife Donna, Jane Benzor and husband Rey, and Leticia Engardio and husband Gerry; siblings-in-law Linda Maksimik, Cynthia Verhi and husband Ron, and Margie Furin; and a host of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Focolare Movement of North America, Lay Ministers Helpers, or the Texas Girls Choir.
Visitation will be 5-8 pm, Tuesday the 25th at Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Dr, Fort Worth, TX 76133.
Funeral Service will be 11 am, Wednesday the 26th at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 3601 Altamesa Blvd, Fort Worth, TX, 76133.
Interment will be 9:15 am, Thursday the 27th at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Moutain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX.
