Obituary of Wanda Lynn Conway

Our Loving Mom, Wanda Conway, passed away at 67 years old on October 23, 2022.

Our Mom was born to Obie and George Jones on October 8, 1955 in Monroe, Louisiana. She graduated high school in May 1973. My father (Woody Conway) and mother met when they were children. They began dating in high school and eventually married. After I was born our parents moved from Monroe to Houston and two years later my brothers were born. They resided in Texas for several years until my mom decided to move our family to California to be closer to her parents and siblings.

She had several jobs until she began her career at Pacific Bell which later became AT&T. Our mom was highly regarded by her co-workers and with some she developed meaningful relationships. She worked at AT&T for many years until she retired in 2015. Upon retirement she decided to make Texas her home again.

Our mom was passionate about family. She supported family through the many difficulties of their lives by giving whatever she had to give without conditions. Whether someone needed money, a roof over their head, or just a home-cooked meal. She was an exceptional cook and baker. Our mom considered it a privilege to make everyone their favorite meal or dessert. Some of our fondest memories of her are of the time we spent with her in the kitchen.  We are forever grateful for all the life lessons, words of wisdom and encouragement to always do your best in everything that you do.

Now that Mom has passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Mom’s physical life on Earth, it is the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her. She joins her husband (Woody), parents (Obie & George), and brother (Marvin) in Heaven. Mom is survived by many loving family members, including her children (daughter) Angela (Zach) Spain, (sons) Marvis Jones and Jarvis Jones, (grandchild) Jazmine Young, (sisters) Gretchen (Robert) Harris, Cathy (Clarence) Hall, Amanda Jones, Georgia Robinson, and Marion Read and her many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. We love you and will miss you greatly.
