Q: What will you miss most about William?
A: Mr. Jobes was one of my favorite patients at the dental office. He told me how much he and Mrs. Jobes enjoyed their takeout Mexican meals, including a margarita, during Covid shutdown. He said they drank just a little so they could keep the leftover for another meal. He missed Mrs. Jobes so much and know he is happy to be with her now. I will have a margarita while I think of Mr. Jobes.

I was one of the poker layers in high school as well as cruising with Bill. We had a small group that we called "Weenuses" with each one of us a "Weenus". One clear memory was our trip to a football game in Beaumont our senior year, 1949. Bill, Tommy Whelan, Weldon Schreiber and myself (the original Weenuses) climbed into Pete Stovall's 1939 Ford business coupe (single seat), Five of us, two up front and three in the trunk, cold rainy weekend. We would switch at times to ride in front, but I'm not sure Tommy ever got his turn. After the game Pete drove us to San Jacinto Park but mosquitoes chased us to the beach at Galveston. We spent the night on the beach ( I slept in a lifeguard "tower"). Tommy had enough money that he walked up to a hotel and spent that night there, but the rest slept somewhere on the beach. The next day, we went back to San Jacinto and posed on the guns on the battleship Texas. See the attached photo which includes another classmate Billy Moulder who happened to be on the ship. Pete, Bill, Billy M., Weldon, Tommy and myself. Great memories with Bill and this group. I caught myself in a little laugh as I pulled up this photo. Rest in Peace Bill, my old friend and fellow Weenus...
