I am one of her many cousins. Actually a first cousin to her Mom, Nonie. The technical term for it is "First Cousin Once Removed" that's how Ann and I are related. We grew up not knowing each other. I mean, we had heard of each other, but they lived in Fort Worth and we in Baton Rouge. We'd seen family pictures, but that was it, until we were further along in life. Ann made some trips to Louisiana, and we kind of got to know each other. I did manage to visit the Vawter family in Fort Worth once in the 1990's. Ann was close to my Aunt Frances (her Great Aunt). When Fran passed in 2015, I became the family connection that Ann could call and chat with any time, usually late at night, since we were both night owls. This continued on for 8 years. I will miss those calls, usually about 11pm or so. We chatted about what we did that day, or just what was happening in the family. We got to be close cousins. She was a beautiful, kind, thoughtful person, that I really regret not getting to know better earlier in our lives. But I'm so very thankful that we did have those years of friendship that I'll never forget. Sending love and prayers to all the family.
