Clay was such a kind man and gifted teacher. When my mother was at Good Life Assisted Living in Snyder, Texas, the highlight of her week were Clay's Bible studies. I'll be forever grateful to him for making time for this ministry. Even though I was around Clay quite a bit at Colonial Hill Baptist Church in Snyder, I really got to know him at the weekly BSM lunches at Western Texas College. We had some fun lunches. I know Clay loved Lisa, his kids and grandson Jonas beyond belief. However, his love for the Lord was even greater. He will be missed, but he can say with the apostle Paul, "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4:7. Now I would be remiss if I didn't leave you with one of his favorite movie quotes and an adaptation of another favorite movie quote. From: The Princess Bride "Mawwage. So so sorry! Just heard this at church this morning! Clay was a great man M.P. and Noline Long, my parents loved him dearly. So did many others that he ministered to. He will be missed. Lisa, Joshua and girls you are very young to suffer such a great loss. Love you all, Marilyn Elbert

I am sadden to hear of Clay's passing. I have such happy & sweet memories of him from Red Fork Baptist Church. Back in the day (mid 70's) my dad, Buel Long, drove the bus at Red Fork. On Saturday mornings we would drive the bus route to visit the riders for Sunday and invite others to come ride the bus to church! Most of our riders were kids. Clay was part of this group visitation. If I remember correctly back then Clay's nickname was "Diesel". We would pass out bubble gum, talk & share about Jesus, and listen to the kids. It was a special time for sure. Clay was always a favorite of the kids. He was friendly, funny, caring, and just had a real compassionate heart! I will always remember those times with a smile.
