Joan Patricia Emrick Mullen, 83, loving wife, mother, and grandma, passed away to be with Our Lord, on February 14, 2016.
Memorial Service: A mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Cathedral in downtown Fort Worth on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 2 pm. She will be interred with her husband at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
Memorials: The family ask that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in her name to either the alzheimer's Association or James L. West alzheimer's Senior Daycare Program in Fort Worth.
Joan was born on July 24, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan. She married Joseph P. Mullen in 1960 and raised 3 children. They moved from Detroit to Las Vegas, Nevada during the 1970's. In September 1978 the family moved to Hurst, Texas where she has lived since.
She retired from Honeywell as an administrative assistant in the late 80's and became a part time florist at Winn Dixie in Hurst until the late 90's.
Joan loved to laugh and tell jokes; she loved her husband Joe, her 3 children and grandson, her family & friends and made them her life's focus. She fought a tremendous battle against Alzheimer's disease. She passed peacefully at her home surrounded by the love of her children.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of nearly 50 years, Joe, and her parents Michael and Stella Emrick.
Survivors: She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Mullen, her son, Joe and his wife Cindy Mullen and her grandson, Cody Mullen, and her son, Sean Mullen, along with her brother and sisters and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She will be greatly missed and loved forever. Her smile and style will not be forgotton.
