IN LOVING MEMORY OF LINDA CAROL VANDERVOORT YORK

Linda Carol York, 64, of Cleburne, Texas, passed away on August 14, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas. Linda was born on January 20, 1959, in Cleburne, Texas to Allen and Corene Vandervoort. Linda was the 2nd child of seven.

Precious memories of her childhood were growing up on the Rex Bullard Dairy and going to Blum School. After Supper her Daddy Allen Vandervoort would get the Bible out and the family would read scriptures out loud to each other. After Bible Study Mama Corene would get her guitar out and play southern gospel and old country songs and the family would sing along with her. Every Saturday the family would get together around the television and watch the old country music shows Porter Wagonner and the Wilburn Brothers and enjoy eating the homemade fudge and popcorn Mama would make for us. Sundays we all went to church at Woodrow Baptist Church in Covington, Texas where Linda was saved and baptized at the age of 13. Linda along with her sisters Donna and Karen accompanied by Mother Corene Vandervoort on the guitar would sing as a trio at churches. Favorite song was Judgement Day. Linda had a beautiful singing voice and dreamed of becoming a country gospel singer.

Linda Vandervoort married Weldon York from Rio Vista, Texas on February 13, 1976. Linda and Weldon had two sons Weldon York, Jr. and Tommy York. Linda was a stay-at-home Mom until she and Weldon divorced on October 14, 1988. After the divorce Linda became severally mentally ill and lived in Fort Worth until her death.

Linda is survived by her sons, Weldon York, Jr. (Wife Patricia), Tommy York (Wife Dianna); grandchildren, Dalton, Dillion, Dakota, Gavin, and Jackson; sisters, Donna Rogers (Husband David Rogers), Laurie Jaeger, and Brenda Talley (Husband Carlton Talley); and many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, and uncle.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Allen Vandervoort; mother, Corene Vandervoort; brother, Jerry Vandervoort; and sisters, Karen Vandervoort Monk, and Angela Vandervoort Beck.

Linda will be cremated, and her ashes will be buried in Hillsboro in the Vandervoort Plot at the Ridgeview Cemetery
