Obituary of Rodric Orlando Bernard
Rodric Orlando Bernard, 88, of Colon, Republic of Panama, passed away on August 21, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Rodric was born in Colón, Republic of Panama, to Vivan Bernard and Wilhelmina Bernard on November 17, 1934. He graduated from Colegio Abel Bravo in 1959. It was during this time that he was drawn to mathematics, which he pursued at the University of Panama before completing his undergraduate studies in 1965. He also completed a professorship during this time.
Rodric met and married the love of his life, Eudora Toppin on February 5, 1966. From this union, their only daughter, Damalia was born.
Rodric made it a priority to impact the lives of his students, as a beloved professor at the same school he graduated from many years earlier. In addition to mathematics, Rodric was a successful business owner. He was dedicated to his bookstore, El Estudiante for over 40 years.
Rodric enjoyed an occasional good book, but was always interested in higher learning and later pursued a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma extension in Panama in 1987. He and Eudora moved to the United States in 2014 to be closer to family. He enjoyed family activities, travel, and “hot chocolate tea” every night.
Rodric is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Eudora Bernard, his daughter, Dr. Damalia Wilson, and son-in-law, Kenneth Wilson. His grandchildren, Jonathan, Christina, Maricella and Camille Wilson. His nephews Curry and Darrell Forte. His nieces Michelle Forte, Grace Randall, Imelda Johnson and Vina Small. His brothers-in-law, Alan Forte and Virgilio Toppin, and sister-in-law, Eneida Gilder.
Rodric is preceded in death by his mother Wilhelmina and Vivian Bernard and his sister Vilma Forte. May God have him in his Glory.
