Obituary of Michael Joseph Oszman
Michael J. Oszman (Oz) of Benbrook, Texas passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2023.
Oz was born in Kansas City, Kansas on June 30, 1943, to Chester and Vernice Oszman.
Oz served his country in the Army, Army Reserve and worked as a Civilian Contractor for 33 years. He had duty stations in Vietnam, the Belgian Congo, Korea and Germany. His service also sent him to many U.S. locations in Alaska, Michigan, New Mexico, California, and Fort McCoy, Wisconsin where he met the love of his life, Margaret.
He married Margaret Jacobsen in Sparta, Wisconsin on October 12, 1974, and together they had many adventures. After retirement, they traveled the US from coast to coast in their motor home, finally settling near family in Benbrook, Texas.
Oz is survived by his wife of 48 years, Maggie; his son, Michael (Tracy) Oszman of Portage, WI.; his daughters, Cathryn (Michael) Miller of Hurst, Texas and Cynthia (Robert) Dena of Benbrook, Texas. He was proud of his 8 “favorite” grandchildren, Zach (Becky) Oszman, Sarah (Kenneth Wong) Miller, David Miller, Megan Dena, Joseph (Jessica Moynihan) Dena, Samuel Dena, Marie Dena and Miriam Dena. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Kyler and Tanner Oszman. He is further survived by his brothers, Terry, Steve, Keith and John Oszman; brother-in-laws, Kent (Sharon) and Tom Jacobsen; a sister-in-law, Ruth (Dale) Noth, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Oz was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Jane and Hans Jacobsen; his brother, Chester (Bud) Oszman; sisters, Pat Bratton-Hayes and Kathy Rennick; along with brother and sister-in-law Frank (Butch) and Mary Blackburn; nephews, Albert Bratton and Jason Oszman.
A service will be held at a later date with burial at the national cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas.
