Obituary of Susana Icban Bagang

Please share a memory of Susana to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Susan Bagang, 77, of Fort Worth, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023. Susan was born August 8, 1946, in Arayat, Philippines to Andres and Candelaria Icban. Susan grew up in Arayat, Philippines but moved to Angeles City to pursue her career as a beautician and eventually start a family. She then began working at Clark Air Base Beauty Shop in 1973. There, she practiced as a beautician for more than 20 years before building her own beauty shop, Head-Dress Salon. Susan then met and married the love of her life, Luis, in January of 1973. Only death parted them after 50 years of a beautiful marriage.

Despite her many health challenges, she was a very hands-on, caring, loving and attentive mother to her daughters: Shey, JP and Winadee. Her daughters were her pride and her joy. Susan not only doted on her grandchildren, but intently cared for each one of them. Susan made sure she called them personally on a daily basis.

It is well known that Susan enjoyed cooking for family and friends on a very regular basis. She and Luis had been joined at the hip since she made the last transition from the Philippines. If you didn't find her at home cooking, you would find her shopping for food or ingredients for the massive dish she was making. You would also find her with Luis at their church in Angeles City where she was a deaconess. Later, she could be found actively serving Doxology Bible Church of Fort Worth.

Susan was well loved by so many, which was a testament to her loving disposition. She made it her goal to be present in the lives of her many friends, extended family and a number of "children". They not only called her aunt or Tita but Mommy Susan or Mommy Su. She unceasingly supported many who were down and out, while not expecting anything in return. She encouraged many people in her life and made life-long friends that loved her, and that she loved, intensely.

Perhaps most importantly, Susan had a very strong and close relationship with Jesus. Susan was a prayerful and godly woman. Her breath was a prayer to her children and grandchildren. Occasionally, she would even burst into prayer during conversation. A Proverbs 31 woman in every aspect of her life, indeed.

Susan is survived by Luis of 50 blessed years; beloved daughters and son-in-law, SherryLee Bagang, Jasselle Knox and Winadee and Stephen Logan; grandsons, Matthew Torres, John Knox and Kai Logan and granddaughter, Pia Logan. Doxology Bible Church Benbrook, 817-921-5200, 4805 Arborlawn Dr, FW, Viewing and Memorial Service: 6 p.m. -8 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2023 in Fort Worth.
