Obituary of Leon Daryl Pinkston
Leon Deryl Pinkston, 78, passed away at home in Crowley on November 18, 2023, with his family by his side.
He was born in Fort Worth, Texas on March 3, 1945, to Leon Eustace Pinkston and Ida Jo (McMahon) Pinkston.
In 1963 Leon married Nancy Anderson, even though the two had been together since they were 12 years old. During their life together Leon and Nancy enjoyed fishing for catfish, cruising Mansfield Highway, eating chili cheeseburgers at Mary’s Café, and even though Leon always won, they enjoyed seeing who could make the hottest hot sauce.
Leon owned Little Pit BBQ on Mansfield Highway and drove a rock bucket for a living and loved both. He always enjoyed throwing a brisket, ham or turkey on the smoker and you could always find extras frozen in the deep freeze. He loved old country music, his favorites being Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Merel Haggard, Stonewall Jackson, and Ray Price, just to name a few.
Leon was a man that lived by his own rules and died with no regrets.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Pinkston; three daughters, Ren Jones, Ramona Moore, and Darla Pinkston; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his two sons, Leon Dryel Pinkston, Jr., and Deryl Pinkston.
