Ken and Ann were dear, close friends of my older sister, Bet Amis. I’m almost 12 years younger than my sister, and she was the supreme example for me of everything good and right. I loved her dearly and spent a lot of time with her. Consequently, I spent a lot of time around the Monroes from the time I was quite young (c. 10 years old) until Bet died when I was in my 70s. Ken was always busy doing something- gardening, tinkering on a car, repairing something, or at St. Christopher’s taking care of something. I don’t think I ever saw him when he wasn’t smiling. It was obvious to me all those years that what he loved most in the world was his very large family! I know they will miss him. Blessings to all of them as they learn to live without his daily presence in their lives.
