Myrl M Furry, 89, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014.
Service: 1 pm Monday, Austin Avenue Church of Christ, Brownwood. Visitation, 12 noon to 1 pm Monday at the Church.
Interment: Eastlawn Memorial Park, Brownwood.
Myrl was born on February 21, 1924 in Crosbyton, Texas to Turner and Jewell Furry. He graduated from Grosvenor High School and served in the United States Army during WWII. While in England he volunteered for the infantry leading to participation in the Battle of the Bulge. Myrl's profession was accounting prior to the formation of Furry Producing Company, an Oil and Gas partnership created with his brother Howell.
Myrl loved working on his ranch and with his cattle. He was an avid sports fan, with the Texas Rangers as his favorite team, but he would follow baseball, football, basketball or most sporting events.
Myrl was preceded in death by his son, John Martin Furry, his sisters, Ruth Keesee and Dorothy Hammond; and his brother, Wayne Furry.
Survivors: Wife, Fawn Furry; daughter, Janice Thompson and husband Martin; grandson, Jon Thompson and wife Brittany; brother, Howell Furry and wife Mary; sister, Dixie White and husband Kenneth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
