Barbara Isenberg Layton was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 29, 1932 to David and Pearl Isenberg. She was a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church.
Barbara grew up in Cave City, Kentucky and graduated from Caverna High School in 1951. She married Keith Waldrop in 1951 and to that union were born two children, Paul Michael Waldrop and Janet Lu Morgan. In 1961, Barbara was married to David A. Boster, who passed away in 1985.
Barbara spent 16 years with Citizens National Bank in Bowling Green, Kentucky which later became TransFinancial Bank. She was a Vice President, a Certified Financial Planner and a Stock Broker. She was also active as a public speaker. She moved to Fort Worth in 1989 to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She also worked in the Training Department at Overton Park National Bank.
In 1992, Barbara married Charles E. Layton. She and Charles were active in many areas at Travis Avenue Baptist Church and also in mission work both in the states and around the world. They served two years in Warsaw, Poland as International Service Corp volunteers. Barbara was active in the work of Stonecroft Ministries and Fort Worth Christian Women's Connection, speaking all across Texas and in Oklahoma and Louisiana, sharing her Christian testimony. She was a poet and the author of a book of poems, entitled "Reflections of the Soul."
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, David and Pearl Isenberg; a brother Howard Isenberg; and a sister, Ruby I. Combs and her husband, Clyde Combs of Cave City, KY.
Survivors: She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Layton; her son, Paul M. Waldrop and his wife Dodi of Waynesville, NC; her daughter, Janet L. Morgan and her husband, Byron of Collierville, TN; and a sister, Norma Inman and her husband, Connie of Cookeville, TN. In addition, she is survived by her step sons Mark E. Layton and his wife, Diana of Abilene, TX and C. Kirk Layton and his wife, Marty of Lake Oswego, OR; and by a step daughter, Norma Adams of Somerset, KY. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
