Obituary of Frank Huffman

Frank William Huffman of Poolville, Texas passed away in his sleep at age 92 on March 18, 2016. Service: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Martin Thompson and Son Funeral Home. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Frank was born September 11, 1923 to parents Joseph Gordon Huffman and Marion Keller Huffman. He had two brothers, Mark Huffman and Joe Gordon Huffman, both deceased. He graduated from Polytechnic High School on January, 29, 1942. A WW2 Army veteran, he served in the Aleutian Islands. He was a member of the Free Masons and Shriners. Frank was a retired electrician. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 69 years. He earned a 65 year service badge, just 9 months short of having his 70th years of service honors. In addition, he had 25 years of service at The Fort Worth Star Telegram as an electrician. Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Dorothy Huffman, who passed on February 17, 2016. Frank and Dorothy met at an early age and had a wonderful and loving marriage where they raised five children; Carol Hurst, Charles Huffman (died June 6, 1998), Judy Goodwin, Margaret Cates and Paula Huffman, leaving a great legacy for generations to come. Frank was a loving husband, father and grandfather, dedicating his life to caring and providing for his family. He was a loving and caring man with lifelong friendships. He was a man of honor and integrity and strong principles. Frank was a great outdoorsman who had a passion for all types of hunting. He especially loved quail hunting with his champion blood line birddogs he trained and worked. He also loved fishing on his pond he built for channel catfish and bass. He was a lifelong supporter of the TCU sports program, which he had followed since their 1930 championship run. He was also a fan of his beloved Texas Ranger baseball team. He is survived by his daughters; Carol Hurst, Judy Goodwin, Margaret Cates and Paula Huffman; Seven grandchildren, Kimberly Eison, Darrel Johnson, Shane Goodwin, Cassandra Campos, Charles Gilbert, Amanda Gilbert, and Chris Cates; Twelve Great-grandchildren, Maranda Eison, Johnathan Johnson, Sara Garrett, Kade Goodwin, Kaleb Goodwin, Keaton Campos, Makayla Campos, Katrina Comiskey, Kayla Comiskey, James Thompson, Cayden Cates and Parker Cates; Four Great-great-grandchildren, Makenzie Johnson, Maddilynn Johnson, Connor Johnson and Hagen Garrett. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association or charity of your choice.
