Robert Smith Ragsdale III, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015. He was 90 years old.
Memorial Service: A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth.
Memorials: Contributions in Bob's memory may be made to St. Gabriel's Hospice of Fort Worth.
Bob was born July 14, 1925 in Burkburnett to Robert S. and Nanie Bess Miller Ragsdale. A WWII veteran, Bob had joined the Merchant Marines, and later served in the Army. Upon discharge, Bob returned to Fort Worth where he graduated from Texas Christian University in 1950 with a degree in Geology.
In 1947, Bob married Sue Hallford of Fort Worth. The couple recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Throughout their marriage Bob and Sue lived in Louisiana and Ohio before moving back to Texas in 1970. Bob spent his career as a petroleum geologist and was a lifelong member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Known to his many friends as "Rags", Bob was an avid golfer and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish on family land in west Texas.
Survivors include wife, Sue H. Ragsdale, daughters, Deborah Martinak and husband Mike and Dianne Klepin, grand children and great-grand children.
