Obituary of Lonnie Gene Rister

Lonnie Gene Rister, 64, went to be with Jesus on Friday, July 29, 2016 after suffering with numerous health problems for years. Graveside Service: 10 am Tuesday, Holly Hills Cemetery, Granbury. Visitation: 6 pm - 7 pm Monday at the funeral home. Lonnie was born February 18, 1952 in Baird, Texas To Marvin Paul Rister and Dorothy Hatley Rister. He grew up in and around Abilene, TX until he moved with his dad to Fort Worth in 1966. Lonnie attended Eastern Hills High School. He started as a young teenager to learn auto body repair. After a while He decided to go to Auto Insurance Adjusting School and was certified to be an auto adjuster. He then became an Auto Body Shop Manager and health problems forced him to retire in 2014. He remained in the Auto Body profession for over 40 years. Lonnie enjoyed fishing and loved to cook on the grill. He was an expert in grilling the best steaks and barbequing the best briskets and hams that could be found anywhere. He recently rededicated his life to Jesus and made Him the Lord of his life and for that his family rejoiced and we know that he is with Jesus and is reunited with our other family members who are in heaven. Lonnie is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Hatley Rister in October, 1999, by his father, Marvin Paul Rister in August, 2007, by his brother, Marvin Dwayne Rister, July, 2007 and by his sister, Brenda Gail Rister in April 2012. Survivors: Son, Buddy Gene Yeary and his wife Betty of Haslet; his daughters, Jena Sheree Carroll and her husband Troy of Azle, and Michele Singleton of Duncanville; sister, Paulette Robinson of Burleson; and brother, Jerry Rister of Clyde; grandsons, Brady Carroll, Colton Carroll both of Azle; and several nieces and nephews.
