Coach Jay Witt posted a condolence

To the family of Coach Norman,
My name is Jay Witt and I was a "foe" to Coach Norman on many different occasions. My first encounter was in 1975 as a young junior from Groom High School...we were having to play Big Sandy for the Class B state championship in Jacksboro....and we were just honored to play in the championship against him and "his wildcats"....we lost 28-2 BUT we played them the closest that anyone had that year.....later on I became the Head Football Coach at Princeton Texas and encountered Coach Norman again when we played Wills Point.....He and I talked numerous times about Big Sandy and the Groom game....but the one thing that ALWAYS sticks out in MY mind talking to him was his LOVE of the game and the LOVE that he had for his players....He always talked about Gary Chalk, David Overstreet, Tim Overstreet, Bobby Mitchell, and a guy that I HAD TO BLOCK but Never touched during that game....Lovie Smith... and his son that played on the 74, and 75 Wildcat teams.....My heart fell when I learned of his passing and the coaching profession has lost a GIANT....But I also know that when one leaves there is rejoicing of his life and his accomplishments....Coach Norman was ONE of a kind...and the mold was broken....Please accept my heartfelt sympathy and love for this man who by his actions and love of the game of football has molded me to be a football coach and help mold young men and women in our society.....I just hope and pray that I have been an example to MY athletes just as Coach Norman was to his "boys".....May the Lord bless you during this time of sadness and may the Lord's love fall on you and comfort you.

Many memories come to surface when I remember Coach Norman. There were good times and not so good times when you felt you would surely die by his hand but we all know he cared about all his kids and students. He will be remembered by many.

I would like to express my deepest condolences for the loss of your loved one. I did not know James, but I know what it feels like to lose someone you love. I would like to share with you my hope of seeing my loved one again here on earth. The Bible says at Acts 24:15 there is going to be a resurrection. Also at John 28:,29 it gives us a real hope of being reunited with your dead loved ones. God yearns to bring back those who are in His memory. John 14:14,15
So if you get time get your Bible and read what God has planned for us and our dead loved ones!
Sincerely Janie

My thoughts and prayers are with you right now. Words cannot express the sadness in my heart in losing "Coach". He was a great coach and mentor to a lot of his "kids".
