I met Lola Cachard in the summer of 1999, when she was relocating from Kansas to Dallas, after she was referred by a pharmaceutical rep (Beverly Baker) to interview for a position as practice manager. Having ventured out into private practice, I was learning the business side medicine and made dozens of mistakes, and was struggling to find the right person to oversee the practice the heavens opened up, and delivered Lola. She interviewed while we were actually moving into a new office and were unpacking boxes and rearranging furniture. Lola was the former practice manager for Dr. Rodney Lyles, a fertility physician in Kansas, and had reams of experience. Somehow I convinced her to work with me, and after taking the reins of the practice she organized the revenue cycle protocols, accounting, payroll and software systems, and our practice thrived. Lola retired from full time work in 2017, and continued part time until lately. In the 19 years she managed our practice, not once did I ever worry about making a payroll. Lola started when the practice was just me, and three others, and helped build the practice to five physicians with over fifty employees. Lola was a dedicated and loyal member of our practice, and I am eternally grateful for her wisdom and expertise that she imparted. Since her passing, I have received many condolences from former colleagues: thank you Beverly, Stacy, Sam and Mike. Lola will always have a special place in my heart. Godspeed, Lola.
