Obituary of Lola Kay Cachard

Lola Kay Cachard August 29, 1951–December 13, 2020 Lola Kay Cachard, 69, of Weatherford, Texas passed away peacefully Sunday, December 13, 2020. She was born August 29, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas to John and Laura Duncan. Immediately following high school, Lola earned a Certificate of Accomplishment in Medical Secretarial Procedures from the Wichita Area Vocational Technical School in 1970 and began a 50-year career working in specialty doctors’ offices. Continuing to pursue education and advancing professionally, she would go on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Washburn University of Topeka and a Master’s degree, also in Business Administration, from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, where she continued for some years as an Adjunct Professor. Lola enjoyed travel and playing golf in sunny places. One mantra she lived by was “Work hard to play hard!” and indeed she did. When at home, she welcomed everyone for friendly card games and backgammon as long as you were willing to stay until she dominated a big win. Her home was immaculately kept, as was all of the landscape gardening she lovingly tended. No one received more of her doting and affection than Bogey, her cat. Lola was honest and kind, generous and loving, and she will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Laura Duncan, and leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Norman Hickman of Weatherford, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Rex and Mary Jane Duncan of Clearwater, Kansas; 5 nieces and nephews and 5 great-nieces and nephews: Janeen Givens, Dale Hickman, Carrie Duncan, Ryan Duncan, Adam Duncan, Justyn Hickman, Zachary Givens, Parker Givens, Madeline Duncan, and Sophia Duncan. The family welcomes gestures of remembrance made by donations to her favorite charities: the SPCA of Dallas and Weatherford’s Center of Hope Canned Food Drive.
