Jenny was born in God’s thoughts before Time. God loaned her to Loren & Karyn for 39 1/2 years. God called her Home on Tuesday wrestling in a 2-week battle with Covid-19. She started Chapter One in Heaven. And it shocked all our familiar faces on Earth. And there are no words adequate for her precious parents Loren & Karyn and her 3 cherished siblings: Julia, Kathryn, and Kristen. You all gave her a beautiful life. We met the four towhead siblings back in LCCS Elementary School; Mrs. Cox sewing school; our Benbrook neighborhood, our LCCS carpool. They even lived in our Benbrook house as young adults and one married the neighbor—-“Love Your Neighbor.” Jenny was true and engaging and humble and talented and kind and loving from the beginning through all her days, no matter what. *Jenny loved her Lord—-She was tethered to the Gospel and she fought a good fight. She was what we hoped our daughters would turn out to be. Fully His. *Jenny saw the Good in humans—-The Laings felt like family to so many of us. We shared carpools for years and they understood our crazy family. Remember the time I accidentally locked all my kids inside the house. They had to crawl through the grand picture window and jump over the hedge with backpacks when Jenny and her carpool pulled up to our front door for morning pick-up. Jenny accepted people for who they were. She looked for the good and called it out. *Jenny believed in people—-With open arms. She believed in me when I had my doubts—-and I was like twice her age. She made anyone in her path feel cared for. Widows. Orphans. The ways she loved all the kids from Edna Gladney to Jeni’s Ice Cream Shops. She crossed the ages. She was an old soul who celebrated showing up in matching fabric with her beloved Grandma Dotti. Look at the endless stories about the ripple that still reaches far. And it won’t ever stop, even though her Time stopped and she moved over to Eternity. *Jenny was part of a God-honoring legacy—-There are 2 things we cannot live by on Earth: time and sense. We can’t stop the hours from ticking away or make sense of things that happen to us. That is for another world where Jenny rests with her fathers—-the stalwart Dick Anthony is one. And our precious Dotti Anthony moving there in Time. 1 Kings 11:43. What a legacy she was a part of! She’s with those who trusted God, who lived well, who loved her. Who can say that? *Jenny’s faith still speaks even though she is gone. Hebrews 11:4. She brought much beauty through her words, her paintings, her very life. Deut 32:47. Recently, I sent Jenny’s art to one of the most gifted professional artists I know and the artist generously replied, “Jenny’s expressionist work is some of the best I have seen from young people in a long time.” I rushed to tell Jenny cause the praise was big. The artist’s words fell in such a good place on Jenny. I can still see her humbled face. *Jenny is with her Maker, her Savior, her Lord, her Friend, her Bridegroom. This is the day she lived for! Isaiah 54:5. She’s home. Our Best Prayers to The Laings who loved their girl more than tongue can tell! “All [Jenny’s] life in this world and all her adventures have only been the Cover and the Title Page. Now, at last, she is beginning Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on Earth has read…which goes on forever…in which every chapter is better than the One before.” CS Lewis #sheishome
