Daniel Lyle Penner, 75, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.
Dan was born on March 20, 1940 in Fort Worth to Ted and Mary Talbot Penner. He was a graduate of the SMU Law School, started his career in Washington DC with the Tax Division of the U.S. Dept. Of Justice, and later practiced law in Fort Worth for many years.
Dan loved to sail, scuba dive, snow ski, golf, travel, and listen to classical music. He was an active member of the Fort Worth Boat Club for many years, and served as Commodore from, 83 to 84.
Dan loved being of service. His 28-year fellowship with the Friends of Bill and the Legacy Group was a huge and important part of his life. He helped and changed many lives, who will always be grateful for his generosity of time and spirit. Dan was a past board member of Lena Pope Home and Recovery Resources, both causes that were meaningful to him and gave him great satisfaction to lend help.
Born and raised in Fort Worth, Dan sustained and treasured many lifelong friendships. He was a solid friend who never held back his encouragement and support. Dan was a skillful weaver of entertaining tales. He loved a good joke and had a wonderfully full and joyful laugh that gave so many of us equal pleasure. He was a larger-than-life figure to many of his friends and family. He was a devoted and beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be forever missed by many.
