Michelle, Michelle, Michelle,
I've only known you a few short weeks and it's as if we've been friends for a lifetime. I want to thank you for showing up with every ounce of yourself. For traveling all this way to provide support and safety for children who need it the most. I want to thank you for prioritizing mental health, friendship, kindness, and humor in all that you do. I thought I had it all figured out before I met you: living life every day, waking up and getting it done, then home for some sleep and do it all again tomorrow. But you challenged my "figured it all out". I will wake up with a purpose and intent that shines through my actions. I will wake up with a purpose and intent that supports those around me. I thank you, every day, for what you've given me. Quyana for being an integral force in my now and my future. Love you.

I was so sorry to learn of Michelle's passing. I met her at DLE training in Bethel, AK. She was a sweet person and so helpful. Michelle helped me with all my luggage when we got to the Bethel Airport. Praying your family gets through this difficult time.

From the time we visited with Michelle in the spring, we knew she was going to be a perfect fit for our 'Blue Jay' family. We are beyond blessed that she chose us to begin her courageous career as an educator. Michelle began building lasting bonds with the staff before ever stepping foot in Alaska.
Once her journey began, there was no turning back. She was 'all in' and immediately began touching hearts with her captivating smile, positive attitude, and eagerness to learn. She was fully engaged in every opportunity that came her way. Before she ever reached the village, she was receiving accolades from district office staff, site administrators, and her first year colleagues. What a blessing she was.

Michelle was such a bright and cheerful person. I always enjoyed spending time with her. My favorite memories were goofing off playing board games every Thanksgiving. She will be missed but always remembered.

Michelle was our niece and we were so blessed to have her in our family. Some of our fondest memories are when the cousins would gather around the table during Thanksgiving to play games. You could tell they were having a great time by the laughter and joy they were sharing. Michelle was a joy to be around. She was positive and always had a smile for you.
I (Aunt Becky) loved our Black Friday shopping excursions.
Michelle will be greatly missed in our family!

I met Michelle July 25th. We were roommates at the dorms in Bethel, Alaska. She welcomed me with open arms, knew everywhere to go (or so it seemed as she had been there since noon). The three of us, Michelle, Grace, and myself, became close and fast friends. We stayed up that first night before DLE training giggling and talking about how excited we were to be here. Michelle and I stayed up late chatting about all things college, life, God, teaching, and how excited we were to be in Alaska. This photo was of the three of us when we took a walk around Bethel. We were the happiest. I am beyond grateful to get to call Michelle my friend. Her smile is radiant. Her hugs were warm and comforting. She always seemed to know just what to say. Moving across the country is scary and lonely, but when you have Michelle as a friend it isn't so bad. We will miss her with our entire souls. I am reminding myself to do this adventure for both of us.
The night after we found out Michelle had passed, there was a rainbow outside our window. My roommate, Emma, who met Michelle at DLE training, told me it was a message from Michelle that everything was going to be okay.
We miss you so much Michelle. I wish I could have one of your hugs now!

I knew Michelle all her life because she was my niece. She has always had a smile that would light up the room. She was independent, cared about others, smart, personable, and an overall beautiful lady with a spirit to serve. I remember the first time she told me about talking to the staff from Alaska about going there to teach. She was really excited and thought it was something she really wanted to do. I saw her just a couple weeks before she went to Alaska and she was excited for her new adventure. I will miss her but she will always be in my heart. Aunt Diana and Uncle Jeff

I've known Michele since she was in my first grade class about 15 years ago. She was a sweet and smart little girl. She gave me a glass which was in the shape of a gift and there were white lights inside of the glass. During Christmas I would put up my tree in the classroom and put the glass gift under the tree as it always reminded me of Michele. I kept up with Michele through Facebook over the years. She would have been such a great teacher. Michele's smile and kindness will never be forgotten. Rest in peace sweet Michele. Love, Ms. Gabbert
