I can never remember when I saw Van at an event or just bumped into Bev and Van, that he did not stop to say hello ask questions about my children and share his children's important things at the time.
I always will remember Bev and Van before I was married and ran into them at a major Department Store. I saw them first and it was just after they moved back to DFW. They were so warm and happy. Holding hands and it felt like no time had passed. You both looked so happy and were lost in each other's company when I stopped you.
When becoming a Mom one evening stopping by your home because we were both living in the mid cities. I had my oldest child with me and Justin played with her very kindly. I think he was practicing for the day he became a big brother. You raised wonderful polite children I last saw them I think, at Donna's 45th or 50th Birthday party. Van and Bev you have given us a great example of being wonderful parents. Even when times got rocky. Which we all know it gets rocky. You were and always will be a team! Thank you for teaching me valuable things so when my turn came I had great advice to go back to and apply it when I truly needed it.
Van you always had a great smile, warm welcome and a funny story to share. Donna and Fred along with your other friends who were friends before marriage and made time to make sure those relationships stayed true friendships after marriage and growing families. You all will always have these memories to share, laugh and wonder how you did it. You are amazing Van. I am proud I feel I may call you a friend. I saw your pride in how your children grew into great responsible adults, you set wonderful examples of what a Dad and a Grand bring to a family. You will be missed forever, but never forgotten. I pray everyone speaks of you often especially when there is a family event. Your kids have learned the true meaning of loving their spouse unconditionally. Friends and family will watch over Bev. But we know you are together forever. I know God will protect as will you. I am certain Tom will guide her and always be there to listen and share what only certain others understand and have the perfect words and hug to lift her heart. I pray for your whole family and friends.
Peace be with you Son, Father, Husband, Grand, Friend, Boss and Co-worker, Man who walked by example for all. I have always seen you as kind, thoughtful and welcoming to all.
I guess I have known you close to 50 years! Amazing and I will have it to carry with me when I need to reflect on a problem where the answer may have fled. But you will be there to juggle my memory or I have Bev to run it by.
Peace be with you!
Sorry, I wrote so much, but I mean everything because of how you treated me during gatherings, nor often enough but they carry so much to keep helping me make the right choices. Friends and family that had children 3 to 5 years older were a saving grace for parents that are never 100% sure they know what to do. But all of you have been the best by leading without making a younger parent feel very incorrect, when then truly had not had enough time to thing about it.
Love to you for eternity.
