Obituary of Van Allen Shipley
Van Allen Shipley was born on July 20, 1952, in Oakland, CA, and passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024, at the age of 71. Van was the beloved son of Mable Marie (Burchfield) and Norman Burmeister Shipley.
Van served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He was stationed in Puerto Rico and Norfolk, VA. Van was a true Mr. Fix-it, a Jack of all trades, and a passionate sports enthusiast. He was known for his resourcefulness, common sense, and ingenuity. He was a devoted member of St. Andrews Catholic Church. Van enjoyed listening to 95.9 The Ranch, indulging in Coca-Cola, orange slices, and Three Musketeers candy. His proudest accomplishment was raising his four children, whom he loved dearly. Van will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and "V-pa" to his grandchildren.
Van is survived by his loving spouse of 46 years, Beverly Catherine Shipley (Fenoglio), and their four cherished children: Justin and Coni Shipley of Frisco, Texas, Allison and Stephen Norris of Suwanee, Georgia, Ethan and Sulma Shipley of Richmond, Texas, Scott and Brooke Shipley of Lufkin, Texas. He leaves behind eleven adoring grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Mable Marie Shipley (Burchfield), father Norman Burmeister Shipley, brother Randy W. Shipley, nephew Zachary T. Shipley; paternal grandparents, Lucie Cora Burmeister and John Givin Shipley and maternal grandparents Samuel Wesley Burchfield and Mattie Sue Webb.
Van Allen Shipley's legacy of love and warmth will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
