Obituary of Anna Pauline Mumford

Anna Pauline Mumford, a beautiful Christian woman, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away Monday morning, April 10, 2017 in Weatherford, Texas after a brief battle with cancer. She was 63 years old. Anna was born July 21, 1953 in Ft. Worth, Texas. She is preceded in death by her father, Elihu N. Mumford, her mother, Jessie Pauline (Jones) Mumford and her older brother, Charlie Hugh Mumford. Anna graduated from Grapevine High School in 1971, then attended TCJC-NE and Texas Wesleyan University. She was a former BISD teacher and a faithful member of the Grapevine Church of Christ. Anna had served the Grapevine Church of Christ as a volunteer in the Children’s ministry for several years. She loved children and devoted the last years of her life to their care and education. She had a soft spirit when it came to the defenseless, whether they be children, people struggling with illness or animals of any shape or size. You would often find her and her brother Mickey visiting the Fort Worth area horse shows and events because she adored horses. She also had a creative flair for the dramatic as she was often seen wearing a unique hat of her own making. Were you to have seen her on a typical Sunday morning, you would have seen her wearing one of these hats covered in stuffed animals or birds, while gathering craft materials for the various lessons that were being taught in the Children’s classes. She and her brother could always be found in the church lobby handing out candy to the children as they left church for the day. She is survived by her brother, Mickey Mantle Mumford, and a large group of Christian brothers and sisters in the Grapevine Church of Christ family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Grapevine Church of Christ (525 N. Park Blvd. in Grapevine). Anna requested that everyone wear an "Anna" style hat in her memory and to celebrate her eternal life with Jesus. In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made out to the Grapevine Church of Christ Children’s Ministry.
